Microsoft’s MS-DOS is the pre-Windows desktop PC operating system. Yet it is still entirely adequate for many Embedded PC systems. DSP Design can sell you the familiar MS-DOS V6.22. MS-DOS will run from floppy disk, IDE disk, Compact Flash disk, or can be loaded into the FlashFX Flash Filing System for systems demanding a solid-state disk drive.

We have ported Windows CE to a number of our Embedded PCs, and our porting kits for these boards are used along side Microsoft’s development tools. Windows CE will run from small Compact Flash disk drives.
Windows CE uses a reduced version of the Win32 API, which should allow existing Windows tools to be used to create Windows CE applications.
